The pipes for the Swell Division
reside behind the shutters. Since pipes speak at a constant volume,
the organist can add some volume dynamics by opening and
closing the shutters.
This set of pipes originally was known as the Positiv Division
when the organ was completely exposed. |
|
Looking like they are in jail behind
bars, the smaller pipes of the Swell Division are seen here. The ranks
are from front to back: 2' Principal, 4' Rohr Flote (wood pipes), 8'
Quintadena (pipes with red stripes), 8' Trompette (in rear). |
|
Taking photos of pipes through the
swell shades is not the easiest thing to do! Here are the larger pipes
in the Swell Division. The order of the ranks is the same as above. |
|
Here's a better view of the 8'
Trompette rank (on the back wall) in the Swell. This is the only reed stop on the organ.
Judging by the brighter luster of these pipes, this likely was an
addition by Peebles-Herzog to the original Holtkamp organ. |
|
This is a view of primarily the 2'
Principal rank. Note that the pipe just right of center with "E" marked
on it is of a different metal than the rest of the pipes. Likely the
original pipe was damaged beyond repair and replaced with this pipe. |
