The
Swell Division (black box) sits above the Great Division high atop the
organ. This photo illustrates that the only way up is by climbing the
ladder then, while holding on to the ladder, opening the door and
performing a short crawl on a narrow ledge to get in. Not for the faint
of
heart! |

Here is a view of the pips in the
front of the chamber. From right to left are the Vox Humana, Oboe, Viola
Celeste, Open Diapason, Quintadena, Gemshorn, Flauto Traverso, Piccolo and Dolce Cornet. The
black expression shutters on the left face the front of the church. |
|
On the other side of the Swell is the Cornopean, Stopped Diapason, Bourdon TC, Viola d'Gambe and more Bourdon pipes.
|
|
On one of the oboe
pipes is this sticker from yesteryear. The organ was originally tuned
where A=437 Hz. During the 2001 rebuild the organ was tuned to the more
common A=440 Hz. The wind pressure remains the same. |
|
In the back of the Swell box are
the largest pipes. As these photos illustrate, the longest pipes just
barely fit! The
black shutters are additional expression shutters which occupy the
sides of the Swell box, allowing for additional sound to exit.
In
the top photo are the Bourdon (wood) and Viola d'Gambe, and in the
bottom photo are the Open Diapason, Viola d'Gambe and Cornopean (front
right).

|
This photo illustrates the large
differences between the size of the pipes. The large wood Bourdon pipes
dwarf the skinny, short Viola d'Gambe in front. |
|
This Vox Humana pipe has the name "Campbell" stamped on it. This likely was the pipe voicer for Schuelke. |
